Lincoln Bishop joins Global University Systems group

27 August 2026The research system

Lincoln Bishop University has announced that – subject to regulatory approval – it will become part of the Global University Systems network, which spans universities in various countries including Arden and the University of Law in the UK.

This will be achieved through the creation of a new company, Lincoln Bishop University Limited, which will operate as part of the network, though the university will remain autonomous within the group. Staff will be transferred to the new entity.

Due to the change in corporate form, the university is engaging with funders and regulators to ensure continuity in areas such as degree awarding powers and student visa sponsorship. Lincoln Bishop says that it is working with UKRI to ensure that it continues to be eligible for Research England and UKRI funding, and that its preparations for participation in the 2029 Research Excellence Framework will continue.

Its research degrees will continue to be validated by the University of Leicester until at least 2028. Lincoln Bishop anticipates that being part of a global university group will “open up more opportunities for research collaborations and investment in research and development aligned with strategic growth, continued portfolio development and social purpose.”

Today’s announcement builds on the “strategic partnership” between the university and the international education group, which dates back to November 2024.
